Schroeder
I confess to being disappointed. I read the book after being diagnosed (and treated for) sleep apnea and I was looking for a deeper understanding of why I have it and what I may do to be less tired. The tremendous majority of the book seems consecrated to attempting to convince the reader that poor sleep may be a cause of just with regards to each disease or problem a person may have. It’s only at the very end of the book that any suggestions are made, and most of them struck me as either evident (the general litany of sleep hygiene suggestions such as go to bed at the same time each night), impractical (arrange your schedule so you may get a long sleep each night), or missing out detail.

New ways to get rid of snoring & sleep apnea.

Loud snoring may cause your significant other to sleep in a discerned bedroom or worse.

And, it may be a symptom of sleep apnea or the things that cause the earsplitting snoring may get worse & also lead to sleep apnea.

Sleep apnea is dangerous. The lack of oxygen may harm your brain; & it have a tendancy to construct high blood pressure & make heart impairment of normal physiological function more likely. Plus the lack of sleep it causes may make you feel bad, tired, & spacey. Worse, you may get sleepy sufficient to be in an accident that injures you or someone else.

Here are a lot of ways to combat these things.

1. In the last few days I came across a new way to treat sleep apnea. It also has worked well for piercing snoring according to the internetsite of the company who makes it.

The old one that is most employed is called positive airway pressure. It works reliably; but it depends on authenti electric power; & it almost in a literal sense ties you to the air pump with a hose as you sleep. So it’s very inconvenient to use. So much so that a heap of persons can not make themselves do it. And, it’s not precisely something you may take with you effortlessly while traveling.

The new method I saw is called the Pillar Procedure. And, the company that makes it is Restore Medical. At http://www.restoremedical.com — their website, they have a place to look up local doctors who carry out it. That function worked well for the area where I live when I tried it.

Once you have it done, there’s not one thing to take with you or be tied to. It’s more like having a little cavity filled; and rather a bit rapidly and without delay it sounds like from my reading of the selective information on their website.

It’s apparently much less invasive & has posing no difficulty recovery time than the operation that cuts out & removes the tissues that tend to block breathing or vibrate to cause snoring. The Pillar procedure works by inserting a couple of strips in the tissue that do these two jobs.

Breathing betterment exercises & neck strengthening exercises & losing significant amounts of excess bodyfat altho bettered eating & exercise in all probability will get the occupation done also. And, they have other powerful benefits. But, they take weeks or months to work. For your health’s sake you will have to likewise do those things.

However, this Pillar Procedure sounds like it might be a outstanding primary step as it apparently will solve most of the problem quickly.

I have not had this routine done nor talked with anybody who has. And, there might be people who didn’t get results as good as the humans cited on their website.

However, I did detect that assorted doctors in our area have already begun supplying it. And, one set of doctors advertised their exercise by saying they do this Pillar procedure.

If it interests you, see what you think. If I had sleep apnea or piercing snoring problems, I’d talk to the doctors locally who have been doing it before I made up my mind.

2. I get assorted dissimilar online health letters.

The one lately by a Dr Blaylock had two things in it when it comes to sleep apnea.

The good news is that each of them may be sharply bettered by things that also have a proven track record of reducing high blood pressure & bettering health in other ways.

Here’s the basi one:

He points out that in numerous humans sleep apnea is caused at least in percentage by liquid build up in their lungs caused by congestive heart failure.

(If this is bad, see your doctor, as you may need a diuretic to reduce the liquid level.)

The good news is that taking 100 mg of CoQ10 twice a day seems to improve heart failure–dramatically well in a heap of people. And, taking that amount have a tendancy to lower high blood pressure in regards to 10 points. It also increments your energy level & improves heart health in other ways.

So, if you don’t already do that, consider it because your sleep apnea may improve a bit & if you likewise have high blood pressure, you’ll likely see both numbers improve..

(Since I added 100 mg of CoQ10 twice a day my blood pressure went down precisely 10 points in both numbers.)

Here’s the second one:

Dr Blaylock also points out that disregarding of the cause, sleep apnea also increments your inflammation & it is marker, C-reactive protein, in your blood

High C-reactive protein on a blood test is a proven predictor of heart disease or worse heart disease.

The good news is that making sure to eat various servings of vegetables each day other than french fries or baked potatoes — as well as eating one to three servings of fresh fruit each day & getting at least galore moderate exercise each day, like walking for 20 minutes, all lower C-Reactive protein.

And, the potassium & fiber vegetables & fruits incorporate have been shown to reduce blood pressure in people who start out eating them who weren’t before.

Eating cooked beans or lentils — & eating nuts if you aren’t allergic to them — also seem to reduce C-Reactive protein levels.

Even better, eating more vegetables & getting regular exercise will make you less fat. And the less fat you are, the less likely you are to have snoring & sleep apnea.

(Eating nuts that are raw or arid roasted rather of salted & fried in transfats is also important. The arid roasted or raw unsalted ones tend to lower high blood pressure & improve health. Extra salt & transfats tend to do the reverse.)

His newsletter likewise had various foods that advertize health. It turns out strawberries also work outstanding to reduce C-Reactive protein.

Strawberries are high in vitamin C & are very high in their antioxidant level overall. So much so, it’s likewise thought they aid prevent cancer.

They likewise are high in potassium that have a tendancy to lower blood pressure.

So, if you aren’t allergic to strawberries & may get enjoyment from them without adding whipped cream, they are almost perfective for cutting C-Reactive protein.

These are a great deal of of the various things that stop earsplitting snoring & sleep apnea & prevent them from harming your health.

Do you keep your collaborator awake at night with your snoring? Are you ofttimes tired for the duration of the day? Do you at times find yourself suffering from morning headaches, being a bit forgetful, unable to concentrate and irritable? If so, you may be suffering from sleep apnea.

Sleep apnea is a very mutual and many times undiagnosed sleep disorder that, according to a heap of estimates, affects five percent of the adult population. Characterized in queer by earsplitting snoring and daytime tiredness, sleep apnea occurs because you stop breathing for the duration of sleep. This may take place in a literal sense hundreds of times each night and your breathing may be interrupted by up to a minute or more on each occasion.

Your breathing is interrupted either by a physical blockage to your airway (for example, loose skin in the back of your throat, or perhaps your tongue, blocking your airway), in which case you are said to suffer from obstructive sleep apnea, or by a failure on the share of your brain to send out the necessary signals to the muscles of your body that control breathing, in which event your condition is described as central sleep apnea.

It is likewise possible to suffer from mixed sleep apnea which, as the name suggests, is a combining of both obstructive sleep apnea and central sleep apnea.

Both men and women suffer from sleep apnea, though the condition is more commonly seen in men and, in particular, men who are over 40 and overweight.

The main consequence of sleep apnea is that, because your sleep is very light, fragmented and of poor quality, you likewise suffer from insomnia, or exuberant daytime tiredness. Your collaborator would probably disagree and say that the main problem is your snoring, but that’s a dissimilar story!

There are a range of treatments available for sleep apnea (including surgery in in particular severe cases), but in the tremendous majority of cases your quality of life may be bettered substantially with a few simple modus vivendi changes and natural remedies. Indeed, in mild cases, this is oftentimes all that is needed.

Here are 7 simple tips to offset the effects of sleep apnea affiliated insomnia and restore a great deal of of that lost daytime ‘get up and go’.

Tip 1. Look at your weight.

If you’re overweight then this is undoubtedly contributing to your problem. Losing just a few pounds may make a significant difference.

Tip 2. Avoid alcohol.

Alcohol relaxes your throat muscles and this makes it much requiring little effort for these muscles to ‘collapse’ for the duration of sleep and block your airway. There’s no need to cut out alcohol altogether, but you ought to restrict your intake and surely cut out alcohol in the three or four hours before going to bed.

Tip 3. Avoid sleeping pills.

Sleeping pills may likewise relax your throat muscles and cause similar difficulties to those seen for alcohol. Sleeping pills, however, may also cause a assortment of other difficultnesses as well and there use is not commended in cases of sleep apnea.

Tip 4. Avoid tobacco.

Smoking inflames your nasal tissues causing them to great and restrict your nasal airway. Ideally, you will have to give up smoking altogether but, if this is too high a fence to jump, then try to cut down and, in particular, reduce your smoking for the duration of the evening.

Tip 5. Sleep on your side.

If you’re typical of the majority of sleep apnea sufferers you sleep on your back, making it far posing no difficulty for the tissues in your throat, and for your tongue, to block your airway. Even if you go to sleep on your side, you in all probability roll onto your back shortly after falling asleep.

Try propping yourself up with pillows or cushions so that you sleep on your side. If this doesn’t work then sew something like a tennis ball into the back of your pajamas. You’ll find that rolling onto the tennis ball will be rather uncomfortable and it will soon condition you to sleep on your side.

If you can’t sew, find a shirt or tee-shirt with a breast pocket. Pop the tennis ball into the pocket and then wear the shirt back-to-front.

Tip 6. Improve your nasal breathing.

If you suffer from a ‘stuffed up’ nose, then undertake using a nasal spray to help open up your nasal airway. Nasal sprays will have to not nevertheless be used regularly or for prolonged periods, as they may cause harm to the tissues of the nose.

As an alternative, pop along to the drug store or chemist and buy yourself one of some very cheap gimmicks that are available today to support keep your nose open while you sleep. Your pharmacist or chemist will be happy to show you what’s on offer and to help you to make the right choice.

Tip 7. Avoid sleep deprivation.

Make sure that you are getting sufficient sleep and that you’re following a regular bedtime routine. Also make sure that your bedroom conditions are set for sleep (the right temperature, quiet, dark etc.) and that you’ve dealt with the worries of the day and are relaxed and ready for sleep each night.

One of the major aftermaths of both obstructive sleep apnea and central sleep apnea is insomnia, and curing the insomnia affiliated with sleep apnea is a major step in the management of the condition.

These are just a few simple tips but you’ll be amazed at just what a divergence they may make.

It does, however, give insight into the horrors of drug addiction, how it can happen to anyone and how it can escalate. We are all affected by it and it may some day creep up on us with silent paws to become part of our lives in a personal way. Having some understanding of the disease, how it can escalate and how it is not a cause for shame but for action can make a difference if and when that happens.

Many persons who suffer from sleep apnea believe there is no way to heal it. Also, a great deal of people who lose a lot of sleep due to sharing a bed with a chronic snorer feel hopeless when it comes to stopping the noise and returning to a peaceful night of rest. The sad reality is there are a heap of highly effective cures for the condition, but most sufferers do not realize substitute treatments are available.

If you are tired of losing sleep while an individual you love snores away or if an individual you love is living a tired, rundown life due to the problem, it’s time to consider substitute sleep apnea treatments.

Lifestyle Changes

Sleep apnea and acute snoring may be caused by the way you live your life. For a lot of persons it is a medical condition that cannot be without apparent effort solved, but for others altering dietary choices, adding physical action to the every day routine, or developing a better sleep schedule and routine may in truth make a difference.

Some people only snore when they are overly tired while others suffer from sleep apnea because they are obese. In these situations, the initial person could eliminate much of their snoring just by going to bed at the same time each night to prevent them from getting overly tired, while the second person would have to make modus vivendi changes that take them down to a normal weight to relieve their sleep apnea.

Medical Intervention

When life style changes are not adequate, most persons with sleep apnea or chronic snoring will see their doctor for more treatment options. Some will be put through for the length of one night sleep studies while others are diagnosed in the office on the spot. Most persons with the sleeping disorder are put on a CPAP machine which helps them sleep without the snoring and more severe risks that come along with the condition. Still others will be prescribed medications to support them stay alert for the duration of the day since snoring oftentimes leads to daytime fatigue that may be rather dangerous.

These treatments are not real solutions to the problem at hand. They treat the sensations or changes and reduce some risks for persons with severe sleep apnea, but they are not effective cures for the problem.

Alternative Sleep Apnea Treatment

Most persons receive the standard treatment choices as if suffering through night after night is the only thing they may do. If you are not satisfied with treating your sensations or changes and want to discover real cures for the problem, then you have to consider substitute treatments which could deliver more satisfying results.

Research is now showing that there could genuinely be a mental capacity to sleep apnea, meaning there could be ways to train the brain to stop snoring. Cures for sleep apnea are now pointing away from machinery that breathes for you and medications to keep you alert, and more in the direction of working on a psychological level to heal the condition.

These substitute sleep apnea treatments are the key to overcoming the problem and beating a chronic snoring problem. If you are satisfied with temporary solutions that do not heal the real issue, go in front and do as you have been doing. If you are mesmerized in real cures for the disorder, then by all means look into substitute treatment options.

However, I’ve got it (moderately), and Pascualy’s book has been a big help in allowing me to navigate this new medical field in which I am now an unwilling participant.

Before I went to a sleep clinic for a formal test, I read this book. It prepared me for what was to come, which was not particularly pleasant, despite disclaimers which say that the procedure is painless and non-invasive. That largely was true, but the same might be said for most enemas, and they, too, are not particularly enjoyable.

I was prescribed a CPAP (continuous positive air pressure) device, and I currently am in the midst of trying to adjust to it. To be blunt, I loathe the thing. Were I not married, I doubt that I would have the willpower to try to solve my moderate problem which, though annoying (that is, a gnawing and nearly constant fatigue), is livable. But to please her (who has endured my snoring for years), and because she does have my best interests in mind, I will persist.

The three chapters on CPAPs in this book are essential for anyone who wishes to truly solve his/her sleep apnea problem with one. There is no chapter of the support group AWAKE in my area, so Pascualy’s words of encouragement and wisdom on the subject have been transformative for me. If I succeed with a CPAP, it will be because I read this book and took it to heart. Otherwise, without question, I just wouldn’t bother.

I am a high-school teacher, and I have at least three colleagues who have got sleep apnea and either are undiagnosed or are in the midst of trying to troubleshoot/solve the condition. When I mentioned my dilemma to my current classes, a substantial number of students had fathers who used a CPAP. I acknowledge that this truly is a widespread problem in America and that the CPAP doubtlessly is the best solution currently available.

Read this book if you, too, are a sufferer (or the spouse of one); but be prepared for a substantial period of adjustment to the CPAP and its “magic”!!

The authors do a superb job of describing the symptons and treatment of sleep apnea. They also dispel common misconceptions about sleep apnea- like “thin and young people can’t have it”-something which, most dr.s still believe. Unfortunately, most dr.s are very ignorant about sleep disorders, and often, it’s the last thing they check for.

My only problem(s) with this book are: that it doesn’t elaborate on Upper Airway Resistance Syndrome, a close cousin to apnea and hypopnea; and while it states that UPPP surgery can eliminate snoring w/o treating the underlying apnea, it doesn’t explicity state that it’s possible (albeit admittedly less common) to have apnea w/o snoring in the first place. Finally, IMO, the authors should have stressed the importance of heated humidifiers in CPAP treatment (a breathing machine, which is the most common treatment for apnea).

This sounds like a lot of “complaints” but the overall excellence of the book doesn’t keep me from giving it the 5-stars.

I find this book easy for reading and technical material is converted to an interesting and well-organized book. The negative side is that it is too positive and optimistic, giving a wrong impression that CPAP is the ultimate panacea. If it can say more about the numerous and various problems that CPAP users encountered, and give more practical though not perfect advices, this book will be much better. Hope also it talks more about smart CPAP.

Many humans who suffer from sleep apnea believe there is no way to heal it. Also, a good deal of persons who lose a lot of sleep due to sharing a bed with a chronic snorer feel hopeless when it comes to stopping the noise and returning to a peaceful night of rest. The sad reality is there are a good deal of highly effective cures for the condition, but most sufferers do not realize substitute treatments are available.

If you are tired of losing sleep while an individual you love snores away or if somebody you love is living a tired, rundown life due to the problem, it’s time to consider substitute sleep apnea treatments.

Lifestyle Changes

Sleep apnea and acute snoring may be caused by the way you live your life. For a great deal of people it is a medical condition that can not be without apparent effort solved, but for others altering dietary choices, adding physical action to the daily routine, or manufacturing a better sleep schedule and routine may in truth make a difference.

Some people only snore when they are overly tired while others suffer from sleep apnea because they are obese. In these situations, the basi person could eliminate much of their snoring just by going to bed at the same time each night to prevent them from getting overly tired, while the second person would have to make modus vivendi changes that take them down to a normal weight to relieve their sleep apnea.

Medical Intervention

When modus vivendi changes are not adequate, most persons with sleep apnea or chronic snoring will see their doctor for more treatment options. Some will be put through for the length of one night sleep studies while others are diagnosed in the office on the spot. Most people with the sleeping disorder are put on a CPAP machine which helps them sleep without the snoring and more severe risks that come along with the condition. Still others will be prescribed medications to help them stay alert for the duration of the day since snoring often times leads to daytime fatigue that may be rather dangerous.

These treatments are not real solutions to the problem at hand. They treat the sensations or changes and reduce a lot of risks for people with severe sleep apnea, but they are not effective cures for the problem.

Alternative Sleep Apnea Treatment

Most people receive the frequent treatment choices as if suffering through night after night is the only thing they may do. If you are not satisfied with treating your sensations or changes and want to discover real cures for the problem, then you have to consider substitute treatments which could deliver more satisfying results.

Research is now showing that there could in truth be a mental capacity to sleep apnea, meaning there could be ways to train the brain to stop snoring.

If you are fascinated in real cures for the disorder, then by all means look into substitute treatment options.

I went to my first sleep study knowing what to expect. I went to the second one knowing what to expect. I went for my pulmonologist appointment, knowing what to ask and look at with my hypnogram (a word that I learned from the book and then used with my doctor, and he was astonished!!!) The experience of being on the CPAP machine for the first 15 days was very easy for me, as this book answered questions that I didn’t even know to ask! And the FAQ’s still are helping as I reach my 6 month anniversary with my CPAP! If you even suspect you have Sleep Apnea – this is the book for you!!!!

This is without a doubt the most informative. It describes the condition, compares it to normal sleep patterns and gives nearly encyclopedic information on treatments and what you can do to help yourself. I highly recommend this book.

One of the authors is a patient, and I found his comments particularly helpful – especially his notes about how we ALL hate the CPAP equipment, but there are good reasons to continue to struggle with it, to explore better options, etc…. because the tradeoff for better sleep, better quality of life, and better prognosis for longterm wellness, make it worth while. Lots of pictures, excellent explanations throughout. Highly recommended.
