Computers these days are getting more than just an boulevard to surf the web and do word processing. They are getting multimedia stations that concede us to watch movies and listen to the latest music. Especially with new solutions such as renting DVD’s online and pay per download music downloading programs. This is why having good sound on your computer is indispensable for the best possible multimedia experience.

There are two ways you may increase the quality of sound coming from your computer. I will talk about both.

The primary would be to upgrade, or get a new, sound card for your computer. The quality of the sound signal being sent from your computer is determined by the sound card. Also the amount of channels that are being sent, and the number of connectivity choices you have. This is why having a good quality sound card is important. There are various cards on the market that may deliver a great listening experience.

The second way to heighten your sound quality would be to get a quality set of speakers. There are an infinite number of choices you have in this regards. You may get a usual 2 speaker system, a 2.1 speaker scheme (2 speakers and a subwoofer), a 4.1 system and the ultimated 5.1 system. The most heightening scheme would be the 5.1 system.

The 5.1 system comprises of 5 speakers and a subwoofer. The subwoofer will deliver the bass and the low frequency sounds. The other speakers would be positioned strategically around the room to give the best array of sounds.

Computers today are not the simple machines they were years ago. They have the capablenesses to be a lot more. With this in mind utilizing these capablenesses will be very cost effective. Now you do not need to buy a stereo system and a television. A computer may fulfill both these duties.

More lasting than PillowSonic

I purchased these speakers in order to replace the PillowSonic Stereo Pillow Speaker which I had received last Christmas. My goal was largely to get something more durable, but I found I like this one better anyway.

The PillowSonic speakers had a rather weak headphone connection which basically fell detached after with regards to 4 months of use. I could deal with that until the cone speakers inside were without intention crushed. I necessitated something that could stand up to a little more abuse. The cord on these Sound Oasis speakers seems much thicker and the headphone connector is nowhere near as flimsy. The speaker casings are hard plastic, so they cannot be crushed and ruined.

What I like best when it comes to these speakers is the 2 feet of cord amid the left and right speaker. This means I may portion with my husband, or more often just position each speaker incisively right under each ear. The sound quality is reasonably good for a speaker of that size and I don’t find I have to by lying right on top of it to listen it clearly.

All in all, these speakers are doing their occupation better than any others I’ve tried. Definitely recommended.

Edit on 4/6/10: I stumbled all over this item again looking for a gift and just wanted to comment that 1 1/2 years after writing the introductory review, my speakers still work perfectly. Durability for the win!

It works!!

I had a PillowSonic Stereo Pillow Speaker that lasted regarding a year. It was OK but then it stopped working. This one worked better straight from the box. It was more comfortable to position the 2 speakers beneath a pillow and they were louder and clearer than the PillowSonic Stereo Pillow Speaker .

update 6/28/2010: The wire to the introductory speaker broke. Annoying. Lasted when it comes to 18 months.

update: 1/1/2011. The wire broke again. Had to disasseble and solder.
The wire breaks at the point that it enters the speaker. It must have been reinforced here. Aftger repair, I added electrical tape to the spot where the wire exits the speaker. I hope this helps.

These speakers work well to tune out distracting background noises. However if you plan to sleep all night using them they slide around each time you roll over and many times the sound cuts out and you most tap or jiggle them to make the sound come back. Be prepared to jiggle them each time you roll over. I purchased 2 sets of these speakers and they both do this.
